Light up a Life! is a holiday fundraising campaign benefiting Tennesseans with disabilities. As programs that support Tennessee’s disability community continue to be cut or severely slashed, Light up a Life’s sole purpose is to enable direct funding support for services and access to assistance for those most in need without the reliance on state programs which have been affected by budget cuts and other factors. Funds raised through the Light up a Life campaign go directly to services and support for people with disabilities. This campaign is held each December and is a vital source of financial support for both the Technology Access Center (TAC) and The Arc Tennessee (The Arc TN).
For nearly 30 years, TAC staff members have carried out its mission to promote independence and participation of individuals with disabilities of all ages in school, work, play and everyday activities using assistive technology. TAC services connect people with disabilities or functional limitations to assistive technology resources. Human potential is redefined by making technology a regular part of an individual’s life to enhance their capabilities and eliminate barriers.
For over 65 years, The Arc TN has empowered people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families to actively participate in the community throughout their lifetime. Our network of dedicated employees and volunteers have positively impacted the lives of thousands of Tennesseans with disabilities and their families through their tireless one-to-one support, education, mentoring, information sharing and more.
This year’s event will have a formal kickoff reception on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 6 PM at the Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation building at 2120 West End Avenue in Nashville.
Donations will truly Light up a Life! We hope you will give a gift in honor of or in memory of someone close to you in December.
